7 summer camps & a lot of fun

Vancouver had a beautiful summer this year. With so many dry and sunny days, and the enormous interest from both the parents and the kids, we managed to run seven soccer camps during the summer months.

Along with improving the players soccer skills and the confidence of the individual players, we also concentrated on the fun side of sports. After soccer training, the kids played endless soccer games and of course their favourite game of “Lightning”. We used a full size net and loved seeing the excitement on the kids faces when it was time to play. We had a great group of kids and we were proud to see the older players helping the younger ones. After lunch the kids had a lot of fun enjoying activities outside of the soccer field as well. We went to the Aquatic Centre and Second Beach pool for some swimming. We also held tournaments at Kits Beach and Sunset Beach where the kids got to kick off their soccer cleats and play barefoot in the sand. Even we couldn’t resist joining in the fun. Indoors we watched motivational soccer movies and live World Cup games, including the big final.

During the BC Teachers strike we focused on academics and practiced math, reading and Spanish. We thought it was important to work on the players confidence, strengthen self expression and minimize shyness, so we focused on public speaking as well.

We are so happy with the turnout this summer and the feedback we received, that we are already planning the spring and summer 2015 camps. We look forward to seeing you all there.
